Build a Line Challenge from B'sue Boutiques Janet Calardo Jan Lea Designs Part One

A collection of polymer and metal collage necklaces.

My name is Janet Calardo of  Jan Lea Designs and I love to make jewelry. I have been dabbling with all different kinds of jewelry components off and on for at least 15 years. As the years went by it seemed that the jewelry I wanted to create had a lot more going on than just a simple beaded bracelet.

Bracelets I made from polymer clay beads, Swarovski  & sterling silver, ceramic, and gemstones.

My big design altering discovery was a shop called B'sue Boutiques, http://www.bsueboutiques.com. It was with the beautiful metal stampings and unique jewelry components that I started to develop a new way of designing jewelry. In the past I had used all different types of beads including polymer clay, but in creating my designs today polymer takes on a completely different look with metal components.

Polymer and metal stamping large statement necklace with cuff and matching earrings

Just a small part of my collection of B'sue Boutique metal stampings.

My new design line, Simply Floral, will start with a collage necklace including metal and polymer clay components. It will be smaller than some I have made in the past for those that like the collage look but want  a smaller size. It will be a little more simple in design but still have an interesting effect with a different look and colors for each season. I love matching jewelry so the line will eventually include earrings and bracelets to compliment the necklaces. Here is the start of the new line with the components that will be used. They will get some bling, Perfect Pearls highlights, finished with chain with a few beads to match the flowers.

I hope you will stay tuned and follow my blog for part two and three of this creative journey and to see my new line of jewelry that will be completely unveiled March 20, 2015.

Getting organized!

Another year older ( not liking January birthdays) and I am ready to get organized.  Wow the busy holidays left my worktable a wreck. Guess I better say that I made it a wreck.....all those bits and pieces that never seem to find their way back to the original containers. How many containers of odds and ends do you have? I have quite a lot. This is a peek and I will post hopefully when cleaned up!

I have been looking at all the wonderful posts my artistic friends have made and knowing I need to get my act together and clear that worktable.  The Build A Line Challenge application date is the 8th and I have to be ready.  I have a plan and hope that it will be accepted for the challenge. More on this one stay tuned.

Also in the works is the January Bohemian Vibe Challenge by Christi Friesen. It is Secret Gardens theme. What a great idea and better yet I have my idea for that one....so excited.

Thanks for stopping by to see what I am up to!

Janet
